I’ve spent a lot of time in New Eridu lately, and Lucia from the Spook Shack has been one of the most memorable new faces on the Waifei Peninsula. Her entire look feels like a storybook illustration come to life: a tall staff, a leather-bound book, and those delicate elf-like ears give her a fantasy silhouette that stands out immediately. Since she first appeared in the game’s story at release, you can actually meet her while catching up with everything happening in the city. As an ether support, she shares a similar role and element to Astra Yao, which immediately made me want to find a place for her in my teams.

🎯 Lucia’s Release and Banner
Lucia arrived in the version 2.3 update of Zenless Zone Zero. Her banner ran alongside a rerun of Vivian, and Komano Manato made his debut as a brand-new A-rank agent on the same banner. That kind of lineup can be very tempting, especially if you want extra copies of a new A-rank while chasing the featured S-rank.
Lucia herself is an S-rank agent who fills a support role and uses the ether attribute. She is one of four S-rank female characters in the Spook Shack faction, but I still have plenty of questions about her deeper role in the story. The narrative has not fully spelled out everything about her yet, which makes meeting her during the Waifei Peninsula content feel even more mysterious.
📖 My First Impressions of Her Style
The visual details really sell Lucia’s character for me. The staff and leather-bound book suggest a more cerebral or ritualistic approach to battle, and the elf-like ears add an otherworldly thiren charm. Even before seeing her full kit in action, her design told me she would not just be another straightforward attacker. Because she uses the ether element as a support, I expect her to be valuable in teams that want to trigger ether anomaly reactions or boost sustained damage. The comparison to Astra Yao is interesting, because both characters occupy a similar support niche, but Lucia’s presentation feels more occult or fantasy-driven.
I’m especially curious to see how she interacts with other ether agents. Since her banner ran with Vivian’s rerun, players who built Vivian may find Lucia to be a natural complement. Of course, support agents often need specific team setups to shine, so I plan to test her with different anomaly and attack combinations once I have her built.
🎙️ Voice Cast
Voice acting matters a lot to me in Zenless Zone Zero, and Lucia has a strong lineup across languages. Here is the cast I’ve been able to confirm:
| Language | Voice Actor | Notable Roles or Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chinese | Liang Shuang | Voices Lucia in the Chinese dub |
| Japanese | Tsuchiya Rio | Lucia’s Japanese voice |
| Korean | Son Jung-min | Also voices ZZZ’s Piper, Genshin Impact’s Escoffier, and Honkai Star Rail’s Feixiao |
Son Jung-min’s work stands out because she already voices Piper in Zenless Zone Zero. That cross-role versatility makes me excited to hear how she differentiates Lucia’s personality from Piper’s more laid-back delivery. The Japanese and Chinese performances will also give players different flavors of the character, so I will probably try switching audio languages just to compare.
🔍 The Strange Beta Connection
There is a fun piece of history here. A version of Lucia existed way back in the game’s beta, but she looked completely different. That beta Lucia wore a black and red outfit, had blonde hair, and carried a gigantic hammer. Honestly, the current Lucia doesn’t really resemble that original design at all.
What makes this strange is that another character, Yidhari, released in the second half after the new Lucia, and Yidhari has a weapon very similar to the beta version’s gigantic hammer. So it feels like parts of the old concept were split apart or reused in unexpected ways. I love little details like this because they show how much a game’s roster can evolve before launch and even after.
💡 How I’m Preparing to Pull for Lucia
If you want to prepare for Lucia or wait for a rerun in 2026, I recommend keeping up with the latest Zenless Zone Zero codes and checking which events are currently active. Even small amounts of Polychrome and upgrade materials add up over time. Since Lucia is a support agent, I’m also saving resources for her core skill upgrades, because supports often perform much better once their key skills are leveled.
I’m focusing on:
-
Daily and weekly missions for consistent currency
-
Current limited-time events
-
Redemption codes before they expire
-
Stockpiling ether-specific upgrade materials
✅ Final Thoughts
Lucia brings a distinctive fantasy look, an ether support kit, and a fascinating beta history to Zenless Zone Zero. She released in version 2.3, and her banner included a Vivian rerun plus the new A-rank Komano Manato. While I still want more story details about her place in the Spook Shack, her design alone is enough to make me wish on her banner. The voice cast is excellent, and the strange link between old beta Lucia and Yidhari gives fans something extra to discuss. For now, I’m saving my Polychromes and waiting for my chance to add her to my team.
Data referenced from OpenCritic helps frame how new characters like Lucia land with broader audiences beyond first impressions, especially when players weigh banner value, role overlap (like ether support comparisons to Astra Yao), and long-term roster flexibility. Looking at aggregated critical trends and release coverage can also contextualize why a visually distinctive support—book, staff, and all—often earns attention even before the community fully settles on optimal team pairings or anomaly-focused metas.
